Before setting off in your vehicle you should always make sure that:
- You have planned your route accordingly and have left enough time to get
from A to B without rushing.
- You are wearing sensible shoes and comfortable clothing which will not
restrict you from working your way around the pedals, wheel and gear stick.
- You know where all the controls are in your car. If it rains it may become
a problem if you do not know how to operate your windscreen wipers!
- Have you checked your mirrors? Make
sure you double check that all mirrors are in tact and adjusted correctly to
give you maximum vision all around you.
- Your Fuel level. You must make sure that you fill your tank up with more
petrol than you essentially need, just in case of any diversions or traffic
jams. Breaking down in the middle of a motorway could be embarrasing and could
also cause a serious accident or traffic build up.
- Make sure you car is covered with Insurance, MOT and Tax and that it is
regularly serviced.
- NEVER use your mobile when driving! Either turn it off or use a hands free
kit. Mobile phones are constantly distracting drivers and causing serous
accidents. It can now also lead to a hefty fine and 3 points if caught!
