If you have any medical conditions i.e: lack of hearing or bad eyesight, you must always let the DVLA know.
Make sure you plan a long journey ahead of time. Get a good nights sleep the day before and make sure that 15 minute breaks are available to you every 2 hours t make to avoid becoming restless behind the wheel.
The Highway Code also advises you to plan to take a long journey in the day time as tests show that driving after midnight will increase the risk of an accident, due to your natural alertness to be very low. I’m sure a few cups of coffee will help with a long road trip!
Make sure that your glasses are worn if eyes sight is limited and shades are always a good thing to carry when driving in the summer as this can help minimize the dazzling sun. However NEVER wear sunglasses at night for obvious reasons; movements and warning signs may not be seen, causing a higher risk of a collision.
