MANUFACTURER OVERVIEW
In 1938, the Volkswagen brand was formed in Wolfsburg, Germany at the demands of Adolf Hitler, who asked Ferdinand Porsche to make changes to his original 1931 design enabling it to be more suited to the working man... and the Volkswagen Beetle was born.
Porsche have had an 18.5% stake in Volkswagen since 2005, in order to stop any hostile takeovers, and further cementing the relationship between the two firms. Today Volkswagen has a varied range of cars in different countries.
