Producing cars since late 1898, the Renault Corporation was founded in 1899 as Société Renault Frères by Louis Renault. The headquarters to this date are in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. It owns the Romanian automaker Dacia and the Korean automaker Renault Samsung Motors.
Renault S.A is the world’s 4th largest car manufacturer. Signed on 1999, the Renault-Nissan Alliance is the first of its kind involving a Japanese and a French company, each with its own distinct corporate culture and brand identity, linked through cross-shareholding. Renault has a stake of 44.4% in The Japanese automaker Nissan, while Nissan in turn has a 15% stake in Renault.
