MANUFACTURER OVERVIEW
Established in 1941, the Jeep was used solely by the US army. The Jeep marque is a registered trademark of Chrysler. It is the oldest off-road vehicle and SUV, competing with Land Rover over the years. The headquarters of Jeep is in Teledo, Ohio.
The marque has gone through many owners, starting in 1941 with Willys, which was sold to Kaiser in 1953. In 1970 American Motors bought out the Jeep operation, then named Kaiser-Jeep. Renault invested into AM in 1979 but struggled financially in the 1980’s leaving Chrysler to buy out the Jeep brand. Crysler have since remained in control of the Jeep brand, who have released over 130 models worldwide.
