Engines
There are a surprising amount of engines to choose from in the Getz with the range being increased and improved over the years. The original engines released were a 1.1-litre producing 62bhp, a 1.3-litre with 80bhp and a 105bhp 1.6 litre. A 1.4-litre engine producing 95bhp was introduced in 2005 to replace both the 1.3 and 1.6 engines which were consequently discarded. A 1.5-litre diesel engine was introduced in 2004 with 87bhp which was aimed at people who were more likely to be driving long distances constantly and it came with a very impressive fuel economy.
Performance & Economy
The 1.1-litre petrol with its 62bhp is only really a realistic option if it is only going to be used for short journeys and driving around town as it isn't powerful enough to travel on motorways and it takes a relaxed 15.6 seconds to get from 0 to 60mph. It does however manage an impressive 50mpg which isn't too shabby. The more powerful 80bhp 1.3-litre is better as it is quicker managing 0-60mph in just over 11 seconds and is just behind the 1.1 economy wise with 49mpg. The 1.6 is the better engines of the original three for travelling on motorways as it goes from 0-60mph in 9.3 seconds and comes in with a respectable fuel economy of 44mpg. The 1.4, introduced in 2005, is a good all-rounder with enough speed for motorway travel coming in just over a second slower than the 1.6-litre engine, but it does manage 47mpg. If your going to use the Getz for long journeys the diesel is definitely worth considering with its strong pulling power and excellent fuel efficiency. It will do 62mpg and isn't too slow going from 0-60mph in 11.7 seconds. The Getz insurance group ranges between 3 for the small 1.1-litre engine and goes up to group 5 for the diesel engines.

Introduction
The Hyundai Getz has proven itself to be extremely popular thanks to its extremely frugal engines and spacious interior. The interior feels dated and cheap and the handling isn't exactly impressive, but as a little city run around it is a great car with plenty of room for a small family.
Exterior & Interior
The Getz isn't exactly what you'd call a looker but it attracts customers with large amounts of space in the vehicle. The Getz is sold as a five seater, but it would be a very tight squeeze to fit five in so it would be wise to look at it as a four seater. For four people there is plenty of space sit comfortably with even the back seat passengers getting an impressive amount of space. The boot is fairly large for such a small car with 288-litres, enough for you're weekly shop. If you need more there is always the option of folding down the split folding back seats. It comes with a lot of equipment as standard compared to its rival's however the quality of the interior leaves a lot to be desired with many of the panels feeling cheap, dated and the seats aren't particularly comfortable either. The entry level models come with power steering, 14 inch steel wheels, air con, split folding rear seats, electric front windows, CD stereo, front airbags, central locking and ABS. The CDX trim comes with alloy wheels, remote central locking, alarm, electric windows all round, electric sunroof, side airbags, height adjustable driver seat and front fog lights.
Drive
The Getz is a great car for travelling around town with its light steering, but it is found wanting when traveling at higher speeds where the light steering becomes unresponsive. Body roll is all too present and it feels vague when put through tight corners. The ride is nice and soft though making town and motorway driving pleasant and smooth, but it starts to bounce around on undulating roads. The power steering does make parking in town a doddle and the size of the vehicle aid this too.
Faults & Repairs
Hyundai have a very impressive reliability record and the Getz is no exception with almost nothing going wrong on it. The spares and services are also extremely cheap and repairs are carried out extremely quickly. This is a very good car if you are looking for low cost motoring around towns and city's.
