MANUFACTURER OVERVIEW
The Daewoo Group was founded by Kim Woo-jung in March 1967. Although slow to get going due to political restraints, the company began to grow significantly, and expanded in many machine based fields, and the automotive industry. It is ranked as the seventh largest car exporter and the sixth largest car manufacturer in the world.
In 1995 Daewoo was taken over by General Motors and has been re-branded as the low end brand in the market. The commercial vehicle division of Daewoo has since been sold to Tata Motors of India.
