Even with the brand having gone into administration, Saab vehicles appear to be more popular than ever, at least amongst buyers of used cars, according to motortrader.com. Saab is still in the midst of a lengthy tendering process in the hope that a buyer will be able to rescue the brand, and although at the moment no new Saab vehicles are to be manufactured, the brand continues to thrive in the used car market.
Saab vehicles all across the board, including the likes of estates and saloons, are seeing their value increase far beyond their expected book values, in stark contrast to the figures that were recorded in 2011, where values fell by between two to five percent. However, many of the Saab vehicles for sale now are actually under a year old and are commanding much more than forecasters had anticipated.
"Saab has always had a loyal following but many dealers were wary of buying cars for stock, especially when there was uncertainty about the future of the company" says auctioneer Roger Woodward. "Bizarrely, now it seems likely that they are going out of business, the cars are achieving a rarity value. Traders are worried there won't be many around. (The vehicles) are selling and they are achieving good money."
Forecasters also feel that the current trend is likely to expand even further during the summer months, with Saab's reputation as being one of the best soft-top manufacturers set to drive the boom.
