You are clear that you would want to make the purchase of that used Lancia car for sale from a dealer. It becomes imperative then that you have a list of questions that you must take with you and get convincing answers to all of them before making that decision to buy. Having implicit trust in the dealer is fine but you still have to get clarifications on some issues so that you do not regret not having asked them at a later stage.

a) The records of the person who made the sale to the dealer. You can ask the dealer to show the documents while blocking the name if the dealer is not too comfortable. If the car has been bought at an auction, then make sure it is properly inspected by an independent mechanic.
b) Ask him to show you any pre-certificate inspection status report if the car has been certified by a mechanic.
c) What is the period or mileage of the test drive that he would permit? This is on the understanding that you would make the payment for the fuel as well as bring the car back without any dents or damage.
