Car dealer Sytner has concluded the takeover of a business located in Northern Ireland. The group, which is based in Grove Park in Enderby, has purchased the Isaac Agnew Group for a princely eight figure sum. This is the company's largest deal since the advent of the recession and means that the second biggest motor retailer in the whole of the United Kingdom now has control of a total of 16 further dealerships, to give them a total of more than 140 in all, with sites in Germany and all across the UK.
"It is the first time we have entered Northern Ireland" says Managing Director Gerard Nieuwenhuys. "It completes the jigsaw for the UK. This is our biggest acquisition since 2006. We have been talking to them for a couple of years. It's a business which has an outstanding reputation in its market and a fantastic focus on customer service."
The deal also means that Suzuki has become a part of the Sytner stable for the very first time. The other eight brands in the dealerships owned by the Isaac Agnew Group include the likes of Mercedes, Volkswagen, Audi and BMW, with an overall yearly turnover of no less than £340 million. The firm's board of eight directors have all joined Sytner.
Nieuwenhuys adds that the company's revenue in the nine months to the end of September last year increased by 5%, despite figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders recently showing sales of new cars were down 4.4%, with the sale of used cars down by 0.1%.
