The second biggest car search response network for motor dealers in the United Kingdom, Motors.co.uk, says that it has witnessed an increase of no less than 123% in visits to its mobile and app sites over the course of the last 12 months, with as much as 15% of all visits to their website now being from mobile devices. The company has also seen an increase of an astonishing 200% in visits from iPads.
The massive growth in traffic from mobile and iPads to Motors.co.uk is due largely to the increasing take up of tablets and smart-phones that, in turn, is playing a big part in the speedy growth of mobile media consumption.
Ofcom has conducted some research recently that suggests that ownership of smart-phones has doubled over the course of the last year with as much as 46% of the population of the United Kingdom now owning an Android, Blackberry, iPhone, Windows or some other smart-phone device. In addition to this, research from Google also suggests that around 83% of all smart-phone users surf the internet using their phones each and every day, with 22% even going so far as to say that they would rather give up their television sets than their smart-phones.
In terms of activity related to the purchasing of used cars, 21% of smart-phone users researched a particular brand using the device, with 29% finding a dealer because of it.
