Taiwanese auto maker Yulon-Nissan Motor and the Taichung City municipal government have signed memoranda of understanding with the Renault-Nissan Alliance for joint promotion of electric vehicles.

Nissan plans to begin selling Leaf EV globally by 2012.

The deal calls for formation of a team to push for installation of EV chargers and promotion of plans to help businesses and individuals buy or leas electric vehicles as they come into the market.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance has been aggressively pursuing similar agreements around the globe and has formed EV promotion partnerships with about 60 public bodies and private organizations.
