If you ever considered the pricey Porsche Cayenne Hybrid, now may be the time.


Porsche has just confirmed that the Cayenne S hybrid has been approved for an $1,800 federal hybrid tax credit.


Unfortunately, unless congress comes unstuck and approves an extension, the credit expires on Dec. 31.


On the plus side, anyone who's already purchased one of the $68,000 (base price) hybrid SUVs since it went on sale in the U.S. last month can also qualify.


And if you are now thinking of buying because of the credit, be aware that it might make some dealer less flexible in negotiating.
