In case you missed any of the umpty-zillion reviews and news stories generated globally by GM's January introduction of the 2011 Chevrolet Volt at the L.A. auto show, the General has hooked comedian and car collector Jay Leno up with a preproduction model of his own.
In return, Jay Leno's Garage has posted a 13-minute video in which Volt Chief Engineer Andrew Farah gives Leno a basic walk through the Volt's technology, Leno compares the car to his 1916 Owens Magnetic - an early EV - and everyone has a good time singing the praises of the extended-range, electrically driven plug-in hybrid.
Farah does say, for those of you who still doubt it, that the Volt's gasoline engine-generator does not recharge the on-board battery - but there's no new ground tilled in the video - Inside Line and Green Car Advisor both ran lengthy explanatory pieces after driving the Volt late last month.
Our postings included our driving impression and a technical update with Farah. Inside Line posted a first drive impression and Volt video , and Edmunds.com offered up a consumer-oriented initial road test review.
But if you just can't get enough Volt and enjoy Leno-the-car-guy's easy-going interview style, you can check out his video right here:
