The feds have opened a Web site to explain how Cash for Clunkers works, although the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which is responsible for administering it, hasn't written the rules yet.
While waiting for NHTSA, which has 30 days from last week's passage of the bill to get the proposed rules written, the site has a sign-up for people interested in keeping updated on that progress, along with an FAQ section; a link to the government's fuel economy ratings so you can figure out if your old car, and the car you want to buy, both qualify; and the actual language of the law - in case you are an insomniac seeking something to help you get to sleep at night.
Oh, and because government has never met an acronym it didn't like, cash for clunkers is now officially the Car Allowance Rebate System, or CARS.
