Advanced Mechanical Products, a company engaged in the all-electric, emission-free conversion of new vehicles, announced today that it is taking orders for the AMP all-electric 2010 GM Chevrolet Equinox and will begin delivering the vehicle this summer.
AMP unveiled its plug-in 2010 GM Chevrolet Equinox conversion at the grand opening of its first showroom and U.S. production headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, last month. Since then, AMP started taking orders for the SUV.
Powered by Remy International motors, the AMP electric powertrain has a range of up to 150 miles per charge, will reach a top speed of 90 miles an hour, and will go from zero to 60 miles per hour in approximately eight seconds, the company said.
AMP says the vehicle can be fully charged in four hours using a 220-volt charger and 14 hours using a 110-volt charger. The vehicle's engine draws its energy from custom lithium-ion batteries,
AMP has priced the 5-seater electric vehicle at just below $50,000, including a $7,500 federal tax credit.
