Gemballa Tornado - The Perfect Tornado
Following their founder's murder, Gemballa has released the Tornado, a re-imagining of the Porsche Cayenne SUV.
It’s what he would have wanted. Following the news that founder Uwe Gemballa was murdered in South Africa last year, the company that bears his name has released the Tornado, a re-imagining of the Porsche Cayenne SUV. A lot of the steel bodywork has been ditched and replaced by carbon fiber, lopping around 154 pounds off the total weight. Behind those massive 22-inch light-alloy wheels is a set of Brembo brakes with 16.5-inch front discs and 16-inchers out back. All the better for bringing the uprated 580-hp engine to a controlled halt (a normal Turbo S makes 550 hp). There’s also a higher state of tune available, along the lines of 675 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. To mark the company’s three decades in business, only 30 examples of this Tornado will be made.
