Hyundai presents the new 2013 Elantra Coupe
Hyundai today introduced a new coupe variant to its popular Elantra line-up at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. The two-door coupe version of the Elantra sedan, available this spring, will further expand the nameplate's appeal to savvy consumers and attract even more buyers to the Elantra line-up. The new two-door variant offers many of the same attributes that made the sedan version the second best-selling car in Canada. The 2013 Elantra Coupe sports aggressive new “Fluidic Sculpture” design elements, a fuel-efficient powertrain, fun-to-drive dynamics, high-tech convenience features, and advanced safety equipment.

“FLUIDIC SCULPTURE” DESIGN LANGUAGE

Elantra Coupe enhances Hyundai's dynamic “Fluidic Sculpture” design principles with unique new elements. Fluidic Sculpture evokes the interplay of wind with rigid surfaces to create the illusion of constant motion.

Hyundai's signature hexagonal grille and swept-back jewelled headlights give Elantra Coupe a lean, aggressive demeanour. Fog lights and available side mirror repeater lamps complement the view from the front.

The side profile of Elantra Coupe conveys a wedge-like silhouette with deeply sculpted surfaces. The sportier SE model features five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels with dark spoke inserts for a more dynamic presence. The wedge-like profile is further accentuated by fast A- and C-pillar angles framing the sharply tapered greenhouse. Just below the belt line, a prominent character line carries from the door through to the rear deck. Wheel arch creases give a subtle flared appearance around front and rear wheels for a wide and aggressive presence. Bevelled rocker panel rounds out the lean and muscular effect.

Out back, a blacked-out rear valance contrasts with dual chrome-tipped exhaust outlets and the deck lid incorporates an integrated lip spoiler.

These sculpted surfaces serve to create a highly aerodynamic body. The drag coefficient for the Elantra Coupe is an exceptionally low 0.28 Cd, resulting in minimal cabin noise intrusion and optimal fuel economy.
